 ## Grade 7 Math: Operations with Negative Fractions and Decimals

This topic covers the four arithmetic operations as they relate to fractions and decimals. In this series of four lessons, the student learns that, much like integers, the four arithmetic operations extend to negative fractions and decimals.

The student learns that the four arithmetic operations extend naturally to the rational numbers, and is given numerous examples to aid them in conquering the arithmetic operations that involve rational numbers.

### Adding and Subtracting with Negative Fractions

In this lesson, the student learns how to add and subtract negative fractions. The instruction covers the various principles they learned in the previous topic, and shows them several examples that involve adding and subtracting fractions that may or may not have the same denominator.

### Adding and Subtracting with Negative Decimals

This lesson shows the student how to add and subtract negative decimals. The lesson shows the student that the principles they learned for adding and subtracting integers hold true for adding and subtracting decimals as well. The student also sees several examples which show them how to add and subtract negative decimal numbers.

### Multiplying and Dividing with Negative Fractions

This lesson covers multiplying and dividing negative fractions. The student is reminded that the product of two numbers with the same sign is positive and the product of two numbers with a different sign is negative. The instruction then uses this principle to show the student how to multiply and divide negative fractions.

### Multiplying and Dividing with Negative Decimals

This lesson teaches the student how to multiply and divide negative decimals. The student learns that the principles of multiplication and division they learned for integers also holds for decimals.
