Algebra B Math: Operations with Rational Expressions

This topic teaches the student how to perform various arithmetic operations on rational expressions. This series of four lessons shows the student how to multiply and divide rational expressions. Furthermore, the student will see how to add and subtract rational expressions that already have common denominators.

Multiplying Rational Expressions

This lesson shows the student how to multiply rational expressions. The student also sees how to simplify the product in order to leave the expression in its most simplified form.

Dividing Rational Expressions

In this lesson, the student learns how to divide rational expressions. The student is also shown how to simplify the resulting quotient to its most simplified form.

Adding Rational Expressions with Common Denominators

This lesson shows the student how to add rational expressions if they share a common denominator.

Subtracting Rational Expressions with Common Denominators

This lesson explains how to subtract rational expressions with common denominators. The student learns the importance of distributing the negative through the entire numerator in able to arrive at the correct difference.
